Game jam sponsorship

Free multiplayer hosting for every jam entrant.

When Floptle sponsors a jam, every entrant gets Floptle Cloud Indie free for the jam and 30 days after it. The winners get 6 months. No card, and nothing is billed when it ends.

What entrants get

The Indie plan, the same one people pay $15 a month for.

Players

250 at once

Across every game on your account. Players host from their own machines and join with a six-character code, so nobody port-forwards.

Servers

1 dedicated server

Upload a server build and keep a lobby up for judges and players while the jam is being rated.

How long

The jam plus 30 days

Long enough for the rating period. Winners keep it for 6 months, counted from the end of the jam.

Storage is 10 GB for the account. When the plan ends the account goes back to the free plan, which still covers 100 players, so a finished jam game keeps working online.

How to claim

Three steps, about two minutes.

  1. Make a free Foverse account if you do not have one. It is the same account the Floptle Hub signs in with.
  2. Enter the jam code from the jam's itch.io page at the claim page. The plan is on your account straight away, and you get an email saying when it ends.
  3. Register your game on Floptle Cloud to get its game key, then host with relay = "cloud". The Learn page has the path from download to a first game.

No sponsored jam is taking claims right now. The first one is planned for January 2027, 48 hours, hosted on itch.io with a theme the community votes on. It is announced here once the conditions below are met.

Rules

Short, and the same for every jam.

  • One claim per account per jam. A team can claim on one account and share the game key; the key works for every copy of the game.
  • Each jam has a cap on how many plans its code gives out. Once it is reached the code stops working.
  • Claims close when the jam ends. Plans already claimed keep running to their end date.
  • Winners are the jam's own top-ranked entries. We extend their plan by hand after the results are published.
  • It ends on its own. Nothing is billed, there is no card on file, and you get an email a week before.
  • Codes are for the jam's entrants. A plan claimed with a code shared outside the jam can be removed.
  • You do not need Cloud to enter. Floptle is free and open source either way; this only covers online play.
Before we announce a jam

Three things have to be true first.

A jam team has 48 hours and no time to wait on us. We do not open a sponsored jam until all three of these hold, and our own tools refuse to open one while any is missing.

  • Not yet A computer that has never seen Floptle gets to two players in one lobby in under 30 minutes, following only our docs.
  • Not yet The Floptle help agent is live and answers from the docs.
  • Not yet Somebody from Fopull is on call for the whole jam window.

Until every line reads done, no jam code works.

Why a jam

Floptle has already shipped jam games.

  • Forgery was made in four days for Brackeys Game Jam 2026.2: a first-person horror game, released on Windows, macOS and Linux.
  • freeflier was made in ten days for GoedWare Game Jam #17 and now runs online races on Floptle Cloud.
Organisers

Run a jam with us.

If you organise a jam, we can give your entrants the same offer. Tell us the jam, the dates and roughly how many entrants you expect, and we will send a code and a line for your jam page.
